Hello! My name is Rachel Neufer. I am a recent Boulder county resident living in Nederland! I am 31 years old with a degree in Elementary Education and over ten years of experience working in the childcare setting. I have 6 years of classroom teaching experience in first and second grade at an inner-city Title One Charter School in Denver. Through this experience, I gained behavior management skills and became trained in how to care for the safety of young children in and outside of the classroom. I prioritized relationship-building with all of my students by creating a safe, mindful environment, encouraging thoughtful communication and modeling good listening skills. I learned how to keep young children's minds enthusiastic about their learning while engaging with their imaginations. I guided them to be more independent, confident and proud of everything they do. I developed positive relationships with families through consistent communication, honesty and a genuine care for their child. Prior to teaching in the classroom, I homeschooled for a family full-time for children ages 7, 9 and 11. I also traveled with the family for 7 weeks through Europe as the children's nanny and homeschool teacher. This experience taught me the importance of consistency with flexibility! I always try to create and maintain predictable schedules when working with children, but am prepared and ready if plans change. I have also been a full-time Shared Nanny for two families with two 18 month old babies. I highly enjoyed watching them learn about themselves and each other while fostering their exploration at different parks and libraries around town (with the family's permission, of course)! I was responsible for keeping up with their feeding, changing, napping and playing schedules as well as household responsibilities such as laundry and preparing simple meals. I maintained close communication with the families and provided updates/pictures of the activities we did throughout the day. In addition, I also taught English in South Korea to students in grades 4th-8th for a year. Through this experience I gained a stronger sense of self and curiosity as a person and became more curious and patient as a caregiver
