I started babysitting when I was about 13 years old for families in my neighborhood. I had about 3 constant families that I worked with. The largest being a family of 5 children, with twin infants. That continued throughout high school. In college I nannied on the weekends for a few families around the area. Typically I would watch 2-3 children for about 8 hours each day, and take them to parks, playgrounds, museums, the movie theater, to play dates, and to any extracurricular events. I would prepare their food, I would do arts and crafts projects with them, and I would put them to bed if their parents wished. I took a break from nannying my junior year of college to travel to Spain to study. There I worked at a children's hospital. I worked mainly with children with terminal illnesses, but also some that were just there for Read more rehabilitation from an illness or injury. Usually I would just play with the kids, do projects with them, play games, watch movies, anything to brighten their day mostly. We did have a few emergency cases where CPR became necessary, so I have hands on experience with CPR. The age range was 1-10 years old. After returning to the US and following graduation, I worked with an autistic 2-year=old boy. His father worked from home usually so on nice days I would take the child to the park, the playground, the zoo, or the swimming/splash pool. He had a very strict diet of organic whole foods which I prepared daily. Oftentimes, I would stay until midnight or whenever his parents came home. I also worked with a family who was visiting Colorado for a wedding. During the week they were here, I took their toddler daughter to parks, but mostly stayed in the house they had rented. I attended the wedding to nanny their child and look after the other children that were present and too young to appropriately participate in all of the wedding celebrations.
