Hi, my name is Summer Bradford and I’m 19 years old. I absolutely adore working with children of any age, and the opportunity to assist them in life's many lessons and challenges. Whether it’s learning more about their interests or teaching them new hobbies, I love outdoor activities, arts + crafts, music, video games, etc. Starting in middle school I received basic babysitting training from the YMCA and occasionally watched kids at an elementary age. In high school I would often babysit for a boy aged 9, as well as a family with a 6 month old girl and 4 year old boy. In my senior year I was given the opportunity to volunteer at the Tennyson Center for Children, where I worked with middle school kids who were on the spectrum. Although Covid interrupted my ability to volunteer, I gained a passion for working with kids that struggled with Read more the traditional learning styles of our education system. Following my HS graduation in 2020, I was working full time in restaurants. After being furloughed I wanted to find a job that could be sustainable, so I began to nanny for a family of two boys (ages 8 and 11) I assisted them with online school, as well as after school activities that got them active and creative. I also would cook and clean for them as the parents worked full time at home. I later had Autism Learning Partners reach out to me with the opportunity to work with kids on the spectrum and provide free training to earn my ABA therapy license. I worked with kids from ages 3-15 and each brought different challenges as they were all on different ends of the autism spectrum. Although I absolutely loved the children I worked with, I had difficulties with the superficial duties involved and decided to return to the restaurant industry. Since resuming work in restaurants, I’ve missed working with kids and figured that this app would be a great way to find a balance between the two. I understand that parents have plenty to juggle between work, kids, housework, etc and I’d love to provide relief in efforts to create time for themselves. I hope to be a beneficial addition to your family, and look forward to working with kids again!
