My name is Dori and I have lived in Boulder for 7 years after relocating from Maryland to live near my two grown sons. Besides raising my own children I have taken care of many other children in my home as a child care provider and also served as a nanny for a Boulder family. I believe in nurturing the whole child, which includes a wide variety of engaging activities that allow for physical activity and creative expression. As a daycare provider art projects were a regular part of our daily routine. We did everything from collage to tie dye to papier mache and the children thoroughly enjoyed the chance for individual expression. Helping children make art was so enjoyable that I became a visual art teacher for 14 years before moving to Boulder. I am also a practicing artist, specializing in watercolor. In addition to quiet projects, I like Read more to make sure that children have plenty of opportunities for physical activity. We'd engage in neighborhood walks to a playground, sports and games and imaginative play. I'm not a tv watcher and don't encourage it. I feel like human connections are more important than screen time. Additionally, I'm a healthy eater and would encourage tasty and nutritious meals and snacks for the children in my care. I would also be available to drive children to places as needed. I currently serve as a volunteer for the Boulder County Youth Services as a Youth Mentor and spend time with my mentee on a weekly basis. Taking care of children is a huge responsibility and I have proven myself to be a nurturing, safe and fun caregiver. I like to establish a predictable schedule for the day, but remain flexible for the unexpected. I realize the need for parents to feel like their child is in good hands during this pandemic and will take every precaution to ensure your child's well-being and safety.
