I’m a story-teller by trade. I act write screenplays. I’m also a professional plant-based chef. I’m currently focused on writing and illustrating a children’s book to help children deal with grief. I enjoy the outdoors, gardening, and making art. It’s important for children to have mentors who encourage and support them in using their imagination and being creative. When I talk to a child it helps me to remember that wide-eyed curiosity that still exists within me. I think that’s why I like being around kids, so I can remember what it’s like to be limitless. I started babysitting the neighbors kids when I was in middle school, and volunteered at the child care center at my church when I was in high school. I enjoyed playing with them and their toys, reading them stories making up our own games and stories. It allowed me to be a kid again. Read more I started teaching kids age 4-6 ballet and tap at the studio where I took dance classes. They didn’t have the best attention span, but I loved seeing the joy on their faces as they danced in front of their parents for their recital. They were so proud to have learned the choreography and I was proud of them. I still feel that childlike joy when I dance to this day. I was lucky to have a mother who was super bubbly and fun to be around, but also very loving. She would read me and my sister bedtime stories where she made each character have a different voice. She taught me how to draw and paint, but most importantly, she taught me how to love and to be kind to others. My mom is no longer with me, but the memories and teachings I have from her will always be in my heart. I feel like it’s my purpose to help heal this broken and beautiful world, and leave it a little bit better than it was when I got here. Part of that responsibility is instilling self-love and confidence in children, so that they have the courage to achieve their wildest dreams. They will be unafraid to use their voice and speak their truth. They can make a difference in the world for the better, and I want to support and encourage them to be whomever they want to be, and to create the world they want to live in.
