Hi, my name is Teresa Cortez. I am 26yrs old and a mother of 3. My love for children began at a very young age and in 2014 I decided to enroll at Diablo Valley College and major in ECE. I received my ECE certification in spring of 2015. I landed my first job in the field in 2017 after living in Mexico for 2 years and a half. I became an infant and toddler teacher at a Montessori school in Pleasant hill and LOVED IT! The age group I began working with was 3months to 2yrs old. We have a very flexible yet structured schedule that focused on educating a child as a whole-physically, spiritually, socially, mentally and emotionally. We NEVER made a child do something that they didn’t want to do, respecting them and at the end encouraging communication by implementing sign language daily. We spoke Spanish, english, Read more and introduced simple sign language instructions to the children early on. I would also help and cover at our pre-schools who’s age ranges are between 2-5 years old. It was a blast and definitely different. We would play outside, do circle, do Montessori works that involved everyday life skills, math, writing, art, reading, etc. We also took care of our school pets and had a handy helper chosen in the afternoon circle to do feedings before everyone went home for the evening. After working at the Infant and toddler Center for 10 months as an infant teacher, I became the school’s assistant director. After a year and a half, I became the school’s director. My role now became more of an administration role- making sure I followed licensing guidelines and regulations, maintaining a strict 1:4 teacher to child ratio, enrolling 24 children year round(and maintaining enrollment at full capacity year round), interviewing and hiring potential teachers, running background checks, and staffing 8 wonderful ladies year round.I supplied my teachers and children with art and sensory activities all while creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere through out the day. Currently working with 2 part time families in the Concord/Walnut Creek area. Hoping to gind a full time position starting February 2023. 1 child rate: $32-$35 Nanny share 2+ children starting at $40/hr I am fully vaccinated and did receive the COVID-19 vaccine in March-both doses. I am first aide CPR certified as well as a mandated reporter. I have a clean driving record(reliable transportation as well) and have passed numerous finger print clearances/background checks with flying colors.
