Hello! My name is Ingrid, a recent graduate from UCLA with a major in Psychobiology and minor in Applied Developmental Psychology. I aspire to be a pediatrician and am both in love with children for who they are, all they can be, and the miracles and potential of their biology and physiology. With my minor in Applied Developmental Psychology, I have worked over 240+ hours at the Infant Development Program at UCLA as a caregiver intern for infants 6 - 36 months while taking a concurrent early childhood and education course. IDP mainly acts as a child care center for the children of the Department of Psychology's faculty and staff, and we have practiced the RIE approach, which emphasizes respect for children and viewing them as competent individuals initiating their own learning. Through this program as well, I wrote a 41 page case study research paper on a toddler of Read more 21 months, documenting his cognitive, language, and social-cognitive growth. Upon graduating, we will be eligible for a CA Child Development Permit at the level of Master Teacher or Site Supervisor. Additionally, outside of the daycare, I have also worked as a volunteer in the Infant Sibling Study at UCLA, which aims to find reliable biomarkers of Autism Spectrum Disorder before the first year of life. During family visits, I would also take care of the children not being assessed that day. Now, I volunteer in the Kasari Lab's Mind the Gap Study, which helps under-resourced families navigate through the system of accessing special needs services for their child. Past experiences also include volunteering in Art Therapy summer program for children of Veterans, volunteering (& playing with the kids) in the pediatrics department at Mattel's Children Hospital as well as PICU and NICU, Reading to Kids in LA, tutoring, and teaching high schoolers graphic design. Quite the cheerful and silly spirit, I love playing with children and providing kindness, love, and care with them! I understand that every child has their own needs, and strive to guide them to become independent, confident individuals to their fullest potential.
