Hello! I’m Emerson, I'm an open-minded, driven, lighthearted, responsible, and positive communicator who loves being in nature, playing with my dog, and laughing! I've focused my career on human development, with a large portion of my time working in youth development. My most fulfilling moments in my career have been as an educator, mentor, or coach, as I can always stay positive and joyful working with my students. I'm eager to advance my knowledge, experience new things, and grow my skillset. My passion for youth development first started as a mentor to my neighbors at a very young age. From there, I began babysitting and then nannying two children daily through high school. In high school, I co-founded the Junior Nature Pals, an after school extracurricular activity that paired high school mentors with the local elementary school students to teach and inspire a love of the outdoors. After high school Read more and a year of bartending, I decided to further my skillset in youth development and outdoor education by joining an AmeriCorps program in Massachusetts. My 10 month term was split between serving an elementary school as a supplemental environmental education teacher, and on a conservation/trail crew. After my time ended, I moved to Arizona to continue my career in youth development, and worked for almost a year at the Boys and Girls Club of Flagstaff. This was a great opportunity to further develop my skillset professionally, and I learned a tremendous amount. The last year, I worked in an elementary school in Flagstaff, as a teacher's aide and part time educator. I was adaptive and played many roles, but my primary objective was to keep the students on task, socially kind, and eager to learn. Here, I was able to learn even more non-violent communication methods, as well as myriad other interventions and supports for keeping children safe, happy, socially content, and smiling! I had the most fun here, and was able to glean an incredible amount from other teachers/educators, as well as having my own responsibilities, lessons, and opportunities to grow. I'm a great communicator, patient, silly, responsible, and find immense hope and joy working with youth. I’m eager to continue and advance my skill set, and have fun while doing it! Thank you for reading, I look forward to working with you!
