Hi there! My name is Angeline or Angie for short. For as long as I can remember, I have always been surrounded by kids. As an older sister, I was entrusted with taking care of my younger sibling when my parents were busy working and frequently helped babysit my cousin’s kids whenever they were not available. During my time in college, I had the opportunity of babysitting and tutoring a student in middle school for a year. What I was able to accomplish was helping her to raise and maintain her grades from failing to A’s and B’s, while also becoming her support system where she can feel safe to open up and share any of her struggles. Through my experience with her, I’ve came to the realization that I love working with young kids in a leadership capacity. In my free time, I enjoy fun activities like hiking, anything that has to do with arts and crafts, and learning new things! One piece of information that I have learned from researching child/adolescent psychology and gentle parenting that stuck out to me that I would like to share is that the first 7 years of a child’s life plays a huge role in the development to their fullest and is critical for the advancement of society. I believe that every child is needed, and every child has the right to a good start which is something I would like to be an assisting role to. A wise Greek philosopher, Aristotle, once said, “Give me a child until he is 7 and I will show you the man.”
