Hello! I am a 26 year old biology student at UC Berkeley with experience teaching, tutoring, and caring for children ages 3 months to 17 years. I previously taught K-8th grade students at a progressive private school in Newark, Delaware, au paired for a family of two elementary-aged children in a Parisian suburb, and worked as a long-term nanny in Portland, Oregon for a family of four kids who had recently experienced the death of a parent. I love spending time with children of all ages and tend to incorporate a blend of Waldorf and Montessori philosophies when I interact with them--specifically, I do not talk "down" to kids but instead allow them to impress me with their innate intelligence and curiosity. I am an active babysitter who seeks out opportunities to enrich the lives of the children I watch--whether that's through taking them on field trips to museums and Read more libraries, going on nature walks and making a garden together, or even a night in spent playing board games and cooking or baking something. Aside from being a student and a care provider, I work part time on the Berkeley campus as a lab assistant, sorting and identifying native bees to their genera, and at the Essig Museum of Entomology as a specimen preparator. I have also worked on and off as a freelance artist since I was 14. If your children enjoy art or learning about nature, I am more than happy to provide them with projects that nurture their interests! Additionally, I have experience working with neurodiverse children (such as those diagnosed with ASD, ADHD, and OCD), 10+ years of driving experience, and am CPR certified.
