I’m the former founder, director & owner of one of Chicago’s most prestigious day schools, where I served thousands of children and mentored hundreds of teachers over three decades. In 2020, my husband and I sold our school to Bright Horizons (coincidentally, the parent company of SitterCity.) After the acquisition, I joined the Bright Horizons corporate side for 18 months, I retired early and moved to Fountain Hills. In my “retirement,” I spent one year “back in the game” directing the Early Childhood Department at the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center (185 kids + 63 teachers.) When available, I enjoy providing occasional babysitting or “back up care” for whenever your child cannot attend school (including sick care) or when your nanny is sick or otherwise calls in. I can often accommodate your Nanny’s vacations, as well. Additionally, I can provide Nanny Management; assisting with issues, conflict resolution, training, Read more mentoring, lesson planning, baby-proofing, nursery set-up, age appropriate modifications, observation and more. In most cases, I require a 4 hour minimum shift, I also provide overnight or multi-day 24hr care while you travel. (I can even travel with you, if my schedule allows.) I specialize in care for out of town visitors at resorts in the greater Phoenix area; while parents attend conferences, enjoy a round of golf or date night while visiting here in the valley! I’ll come prepared with an arsenal of activities; books, music, crafts, games, etc. My rates start at $35/hour, daily & overnight rates for 24hr overnight care are negotiable and curated individually. I am fully vaccinated (Pfizer) and receive all boosters and flu/rsv shots. *Also, CPR/AED + First Aid certification valid through 12/2025 + I hold an AZ Level 1 (highest level) fingerprint card. Here are a few articles and also a commercial from some years ago that tell a bit about me and my story (obviously from before we sold the school.) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=axd3gXb3Y1c http://voyagechicago.com/interview/meet-jennifer-heim-detour-2-discovery-day-school-south-loop/ https://greatersouthloop.org/news/south-loop-business-spotlight-detour-2-discovery-day-school/ ** I’m allergic to dogs/cats but have no problem taking non-drowsy allergy meds for my shifts at households with furry friends. *I”m on the board of a bully rescue, so know that I love dogs of all breeds!

As soon as we met Jen, we felt like we’d found a real fairy tale caregiver to help us with the kids when we’re at our vacation home during the winter months! To say it felt like having a trusted family member watching the girls is an understatement. We feel so lucky to have found this amazing special woman!

We were so lucky to have Ms Jeni for 5 days during our Phoenix resort vacation. She came each day for 6-8 hours. We never once worried about our munchkins (toddler & grade school) in fact we originally only planned for two six hour shifts…the kids had so much fun we asked Jeni to come back for the last three days as well! The peace of mind that came with her background was priceless. When you can Google a caregiver to read articles about her history, you know you’re in good hands. We had absolutely no concerns and by the end of our trip we felt like she was family! We were excited to hear she’d be willing to travel with us on our next vacation…who’d have thought our little spa trip would allow us to find the most perfect travel nanny on earth!

Fantastic caregiver with a wealth of experience and knowledge. Children take to her instantly as if they've known her forever, it’s amazing. Our visiting family used her services at a resort and it was like having a favorite Auntie along for the vacation! Worth every penny for the peace of mind to enjoy much needed kid-free adult time!
