Hi! My name is Vera and I'm a recent UConn graduate. I have most recently worked as an endocrinology medical assistant in Boston, and have recently been accepted into PA school! I just took a few weeks to backpack across Thailand , and am looking to help out any families with children that need an extra hand. My previous experience with childcare is working with ages 0-5, anywhere from bottle feeding and changing diapers to entertaining older children after school. I'm very open to helping out in whatever ways you need - I have a car and can help with pickup/dropoff at school (am also comfortable with the T), can help with homework and cooking, love to clean/organize, and would be more than happy to take your child to a museum or two (or any other fun activities) if they are up for it! I am also happy to come Read more over and just keep your child some company while you are away. Although I’ve mostly worked with younger children, I’m very chill and get along easily with junior high aged kids. I'm EMT certified and heading to graduate school to become a Physician Assistant in September, so I am well equipped to keep your child safe incase of any medical emergencies :) Since quitting my job and returning from my travels, I have plenty of time to dedicate to helping out with your specific needs. Whether you just need someone to come over and create a safe and comfortable space to hang out with after school, or more direct care, I’m your girl! Vera was wonderful with my two boys and I would definitely hire her again! She was: Punctual and communicated well: kept me informed on her arrival ETA close to the expected time Kept the kids engaged: suggested activities and participated in games the kids initiated Independent and responsible: managed snack and potty breaks well and never needed help. Also, cleaned up toys at the end. Flexible: tolerated increasing levels of chaos including when the kids stripped naked, made messes and ordered her out of the kitchen during snack time (she still kept an eye on them)
